All of Barcelona as a stage: citywide outdoor advertising for trade fairs like ISE 2026

Four individual images combined into a collage. The images show analog and digital City Light Posters in portrait orientation, featuring different designs, in various locations throughout Barcelona, both during the day and at night.

Why the density of this city is your greatest ally and how you can use it for your advertising campaign

In part 1 (click here to read the article), we saw how brands make their first impression at El Prat Airport. In part 2 (to go the article, click here), we explored the transport hubs on the way to the trade fair and how Shure took over the entire train station. But what happens after the trade fair day? Trade visitors leave the grounds, put on their jackets, and dive into one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. They stroll along La Rambla, shop at Maremagnum, eat at Mercat de la Boqueria, or enjoy a drink at the harbor.

And these target groups can also be reached there. And even there, these target groups are reachable. Barcelona is compact, densely populated, and walkable. That means Barcelona is a city where a few strategically placed advertising spaces already achieve an exceptionally large impact. Simply because everything is close together, because the same people take the same routes. And because outdoor advertising here is not just placed anywhere, but precisely where life happens.

Between a street filled with buses and cars and a sidewalk with pedestrians and cyclists you can see an analog City Light Poster. It shows a blue poster advertising the Barcelona Aquarium, featuring a picture of a shark.

Light, technology, attention: ISE relies on creativity throughout the entire cityscape

For the 2026 trade show, ISE took advantage of many of the available marketing opportunities to place itself at the center of attention. The technological progress that the fair represents was visible not only in the exhibition halls but also in the night sky over Barcelona.

600 state-of-the-art drones – on the first evening accompanied by live singing, violin, and piano – floated through the air illuminated in breathtaking colors, creating creative works of art in a choreographed sequence.

What appeared as a spectacle was pure communication: not only fair visitors looked up, but also commuters, passersby, and residents from the surrounding area. The show spread on social media and thus had an impact far beyond Barcelona.

Those who use creative staging can not only capture attention but also leave a lasting impression. This applies to spectacular drone shows as much as to consistently deployed outdoor advertising, whether digitally glowing at a busy intersection or in large format on a bus rolling through the city center.

Mercat de la Boqueria: Outdoor advertising in the heart of the experience space

After a long day at the trade fair, Mercat de la Boqueria is definitely worth a visit! Located right on La Rambla, it is a lively meeting place where locals, tourists from around the world, foodies, and chefs come together. Here, tradition meets trend. People come to shop, to taste, to take photos, and to experience the real Barcelona.

In the heavily trafficked central aisle of the covered market hall hangs a truly outstanding digital advertising space: large, illuminated, right in the middle of the action. Imagine this: hundreds of people pushing past, colors and scents all around, the atmosphere at its peak. And your brand shines exactly where attention, enjoyment, and emotion are already at a maximum. This is not a chance encounter; this is outdoor advertising in a moment of genuine openness.

Bus advertising in Barcelona – your message rolls through the streets of the city

Airport, train station, and tram advertising aren’t the only ways to strengthen your brand presence in Barcelona with analog and digital advertising options. Bus advertising offers another eye-catching opportunity to reach business travelers, trade fair visitors, commuters, and tourists on a daily basis. Whether full cover or rear design, with bus advertising on regional bus routes or sightseeing buses (with fixed routes), your outdoor advertising will roll effectively through the city center.

Digital or analogue out of home advertising?
OOH (network) that spans all of Barcelona

Picture this: you’re strolling along La Rambla, one of the world’s most famous promenades, and there’s your out-of-home campaign, glowing back at you. You walk along Port Olímpic, the vibrant harbour overlooking the Mediterranean, and your brand is there too. This isn’t a coincidence. This is a network: a dCLP network of 38 digital screens, strategically distributed across the city.

38 digital City Light Posters cover Barcelona’s most iconic and highest-footfall locations, complemented by four larger screens at 8 m² each for particularly dynamic content. The high-brightness displays draw eyes instinctively through their luminosity and motion content, while integrating seamlessly into the urban streetscape. This network delivers 2.5 million gross contacts per week and that’s before factoring in the city’s substantial tourist footfall.

The full package of 38 digital City Light Posters and 4 large-format screens, with a 10-second spot over a one-week campaign is priced at €35,780 (price for 2026).

A street with cars, night shot. Two bright, digital City Light Posters stand out; they display an advertisement for Disney's Frozen, featuring mostly white and light blue colors.

But this isn’t the only network available to you for bringing your advertising ideas to the streets and reaching your target audiences. City Light Posters, both digital and analog, are located throughout the city, allowing you to choose the option that best fits your advertising goals and strategy. They are situated in close proximity to the city’s major landmarks such as at the busy intersection next to the Pop Art-style sculpture Cara de Barcelona.

Along the city’s promenades and arterial streets, placements positioned directly within the flow of traffic reach everyone moving through the city: pedestrians, drivers, bus passengers, cyclists — and e-bike rental is booming — taxi passengers and their drivers alike.

Barcelona isn’t only famous for its landmarks, of course. Anyone who has explored the city on foot knows that shopping is simply part of the experience 😉. Right outside the impressive Maremagnum shopping centre (busy all day long), City Light Posters offer a stage where your brand becomes visible precisely when consumer mood and purchase intent are at their peak.

A nighttime shot of the entrance to a large shopping center, with many people streaming up the stairs toward the doors. In front of the stairs there is a digital City Light Poster advertising a bank.

For those with an eye on Barcelona’s business scene, there’s plenty on offer too. Heading towards the city centre and into business districts, bus shelters and subway entrances provide attractive high-visibility formats — including locations at the main railway station and at the CCIB, the Barcelona International Convention Centre.

Of course, there are also advertising opportunities right in front of the Fira Barcelona Gran Via exhibition grounds, allowing you to guide your target audience all the way to the entrance as they make their way to the trade show. For example, there are digital City Light Posters located directly on the street in front of Entrance C at Fira Gran Via, which attract attention particularly well with their dynamic content.

Make the most of Barcelona’s versatility as a stage for your brand. Whether at landmarks, shopping centers, promenades, or in business districts such as trade fair and convention venues, strategically placed analog or digital City Light Posters allow you to reach your target audience right where they are.

A personal impression: What makes Barcelona so special as a stage for outdoor advertising

Barcelona is picturesquely situated between mountains and sea, and it is precisely this geographical limit that makes the city so special for advertisers. Incidentally, Barcelona is also one of the most densely populated cities in Europe, and it is precisely this compactness that gives it its unique pulse.

Streets, squares, and alleys are tightly packed together. Historic buildings rise up right next to modern boutiques and cafés. From Casa Batlló to La Rambla to the cathedral to the Arc de Triomf and, in the evening, to the harbor: everything is within walking distance. The exhibition grounds blend seamlessly into this urban fabric, and the short distances create visibility for brands, companies, and their advertising at every point along the route.

My conclusion: the density of the city offers enormous opportunities for outdoor advertising! Even a few advertising spaces have a very strong advertising effect in the concentrated city center. Barcelona is predestined for trade fairs and thus also for outdoor advertising that shines far beyond the exhibition halls.
